This project is in continuation with Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and HP Board of School Education's ambitious ICT project which was implemented for enhancing the quality of education provided to students by utilizing latest Information and Communication techniques such as Internet and Smart Classes. The first phase of the project has been implemented in 628 Government senior secondary schools of Himachal Pradesh where teachers from 9th to 12th class are provided with digital education content including lectures, videos, pictures and practice tests along with the internet facility to improvise on the learning experiences of their students. Every school is provided with state-of-the-art infrastructure that includes desktop computers, LCD, broadband Internet connection and data server. The project is outsourced to HCL for installation and maintenance of hardware support and IL&FS for developing educational content.
MHRD conducted an evaluation drive in order to understand the effectiveness of the implementation of the scheme. The MHRD has appointed independent evaluators from various reputed organizations/institutions across the state for doing the same. IIT Mandi has been appointed for evaluating 99 schools in Mandi region.
Dr Arti Kashyap from IIT Mandi led the evaluation process in all 98 schools. The evaluation procedure included careful sampling of the schools, personal visits to nearby and remote schools, interviews with Principals, teachers and students, and brainstorming sessions with various stakeholders. The project has been found to be successful in achieving its goal and the impact is quite visible.
In our UHL Classroom project, we will make use of those available facilities such as a desktop computer and internet of various Govt. Sen. Sec Schools of District Mandi, to help students of class 11 and class 12 in their prepration of competitive exams such as JEE
