Professor (School of Physical sciences)
After finishing Ph.D. in Computational Condensed Matter Physics from IIT Roorkee in 1996, I joined as CSIR-Research Associate in MNIT, Jaipur and also took part-time teaching there. With part time job, I could enjoy my initial years of raising two beautiful kids. From 2002-2005, worked as postdoc at UNL, Nebraska (USA) followed by Visiting Scientist at IFW, Dresden (Germany). In 2005, I joined LNMIIT, Jaipur and worked there until I moved to IIT Mandi in 2011 as Associate Professor (Joint Appointment). My main research interests are in electronic structure calculations using first principles approach and study of properties of magnetic nano-materials. Further, I widened my research interests to databases and big data technologies/distributed computing as per the need of the Institutes I served/serving. Being a native of Mandi town, I strive with passion and zeal to be the flag bearer for the growing IIT in my home town. I am passionate to serve the society, particularly through educational activities and technological intervention to uplift the hilly livelihood.
